Ransomware

If ransomware gets in today, what happens to your operation tomorrow?

Ransomware encrypts your company's information and demands a payment to give it back. The risk gets reduced on two fronts: keeping it out, and being able to recover your information if it does get in, without depending on whoever attacked you.

What's at stake

  • Computers stop working and nobody can do their job.
  • Client and billing information ends up encrypted.
  • The backups sitting on the same network get encrypted too.
  • The pressure to pay, with no certainty of getting anything back.

Two fronts, not one

Keeping it out

We protect computers and servers with SentinelOne, which watches how programs behave and can stop malicious activity depending on the platform, configuration and license contracted.

SentinelOne protection

Being able to recover

We configure backups with an off-site copy and immutable copies: for the configured period they cannot be modified or deleted, not even with administrator credentials.

Your team recognizing it

Most of these attacks start with an email. We work on awareness so people recognize the attempt and report it in time.

What's worth making clear

  • No tool offers total protection. The goal is to reduce risk and shorten the time to detection and containment.
  • Human alert review happens Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00, Hermosillo time. We do not offer a SOC or 24/7 support.
  • Any ransomware warranty belongs to the vendor and is subject to its eligibility conditions. It is not a Waxxor guarantee.
  • Recovery times depend on the volume of information and the contracted scope.

Frequently asked questions

Does paying the ransom help?

There is no guarantee of getting the information back even if you pay, and paying doesn't stop it from happening again. That is why the work focuses on reducing the chance of it getting in and on being able to restore without depending on whoever attacked you.

Isn't our antivirus enough?

A traditional antivirus recognizes threats it already knows. New ransomware isn't on those lists yet. That is why we use a platform that also watches how programs behave on each device.

What if ransomware reaches the backups too?

That is exactly what immutable copies prevent: for the configured period they cannot be modified or deleted. That is why the copies live in the backup service and not only inside your network.

Shall we review how exposed your company is?

Book a conversation at no cost. We look at what protects your devices, what is being backed up and what to address first.
