With MSP360, Veeam or Acronis

Get your information back when something goes wrong

An accidental deletion, a failed disk or a security incident shouldn't cost you years of information. That is what a backup service is for: one copy close by, to restore quickly, and another far away, for when the close one fails too.

What it's for

To keep copies of your information stored separately, protected against modification or deletion, and to be able to put them back where they belong when you need them.

What it helps you avoid

Situations where a backup makes the difference:

  • Someone deleted a folder and nobody noticed until weeks later.
  • A disk stopped working, and with it the information that only lived there.
  • Ransomware encrypted files and also reached the copies sitting on the same network.
  • An update went wrong and you need to go back to the previous state.
  • Someone asks for information from three years ago and nobody knows where it ended up.

What Waxxor does

We define what gets backed up

We go through which information is genuinely critical and where it comes from: servers, devices, systems or cloud services, according to the scope we agree on.

We configure the copies

We implement the backup with whichever platform fits your infrastructure: one copy on-site, for fast restores, and another off-site, protected against modification or deletion.

We test the restore

We run quarterly restore tests. A backup that has never been tested is an assumption, not a protection.

We support the recovery

If something has to be restored, we walk through the process with you according to the contracted scope.

What's included and what isn't

What it normally includes

  • Backup configuration on the platform that fits your infrastructure: MSP360, Veeam or Acronis.
  • An on-site copy and an off-site copy, according to the agreed design.
  • Immutable copies in the backup service.
  • Quarterly restore testing.
  • Retention according to the policy agreed with your company.
  • Support during restoration, according to the contracted scope.

What's worth making clear

  • Backup frequency, what gets backed up and recovery times are defined in the proposal. There is no figure that applies to everyone.
  • The backup platform is defined in the proposal. We do not apply the same tool to every case.
  • We do not promise immediate recovery or zero data loss: there is always an interval between one copy and the next.
  • A backup service is not a business continuity plan. Impact analysis, replication, crisis plans, drills and certifications such as ISO 22301 are separate projects and are not included.
  • Restore time depends on the volume of information, the internet connection and what has to be recovered.

The technology behind it

We work with three backup platforms: MSP360, Veeam and Acronis. Which one gets used depends on your servers, your systems and the agreed scope. MSP360 and Veeam write the on-site copy and, off-site, to Wasabi.

MSP360, Veeam and Acronis

The three platforms we manage backups with. The choice depends on your infrastructure and is stated in the proposal.

Wasabi

The cloud storage we connect to MSP360 and Veeam to hold the off-site copy, separate from your network and your devices.

On-site and off-site

A local copy, to restore quickly without depending on your internet connection, and another outside your network. That way an incident that reaches your devices does not reach the backups as well.

Immutable copies

For the configured period, copies cannot be modified or deleted. Neither an accidental deletion nor an attacker with credentials can alter them while that period is in force.

Quarterly testing

Every quarter we restore sample information to confirm the backup actually works, not just that the job ran without errors.

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean for copies to be immutable?

That for the configured period they cannot be modified or deleted, not even with administrator credentials. That is exactly what stops ransomware from encrypting the backups too.

What do on-site and off-site backups mean?

On-site is a copy that lives on your own network: it restores fast, because it does not depend on your internet connection. Off-site is a copy in the cloud, separate from your devices: it is the one still there if a fire, a theft or ransomware reaches your office.

Which tool are you going to use?

It depends on your infrastructure. We work with MSP360, Veeam and Acronis, and the choice is made while designing the service. It is stated in the proposal, along with frequency and retention.

How often do backups run?

It depends on how often your information changes and on what we agree in the proposal. We don't apply a single frequency to every company.

How long would it take to recover everything?

It depends on the volume, the internet connection and what has to be restored. We estimate it for your case while designing the service. We don't quote a general figure, because it would be made up.

We already back up to an external disk. Is that enough?

It depends. A disk connected to the same network can be hit by the same incident that hit the computers. We review it with you and tell you what's missing.

Is this the same as OneDrive?

No. OneDrive syncs files: if they are deleted or encrypted, the change syncs too. A backup keeps separate, protected copies with a history you can restore from.

See all services

  • Secure email and files

We configure and harden Microsoft 365 to reduce email fraud, improper access and exposure of your files.

  • SentinelOne protection

We implement and configure SentinelOne on your company's computers and servers, and follow up on the alerts.

  • Security assessment

Three distinct scopes, from a free diagnostic conversation to a technical analysis defined by proposal.

  • Security awareness

Workshops and good practices so your team recognizes and reports fraud attempts, with phishing simulations according to the contracted program.

  • Penetration testing

An authorized exercise to find, in a controlled way, what an attacker could take advantage of. Every project is designed with its own scope.

Which information can you not afford to lose?

Book a conversation at no cost. We review what is being backed up today, what isn't, and what is worth protecting first.
